World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade
Item upgrades allow players to increase the level of weapons and armor that are equippable. This increases the power of the equipment, and also sometimes adding buffs or rolling an affix again.

Cost
The player must pay gold to upgrade an item. The cost to upgrade an item varies based on the item's current status and type of upgrade. Upgrades to weapons are generally cheaper than upgrades for armor because weapons have lower requirements. The amount of Gold required increases as the item is upgraded to an upper level.

The upgraded items will also have upgraded stats that will improve its performance in different ways. This can include boosting its attack strength or critical strike chance. Additionally, an upgraded item may be able to offer additional buffs to the unit it is equipped with. These upgrades can be utilized for a number of reasons, including to boost the overall power of an individual or group unit. They also can have a major impact on the gameplay.
Items can be upgraded at any item upgrader NPC in the game. Generally these NPCs are found in capital cities or major questing spots. You can also find upgraders of items in dungeons that feature high-level bosses. You can also talk to NPCs in the garrisons of your faction.
The upgrade system for items in World of Warcraft provides players with the ability to upgrade the level of weapons, armor, and trinkets. This process is similar to gear reforging process in Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor. However instead of using currency, players have to visit an item upgrader to complete the process.

This means that rerolling an item that is Rare item will result in a Normal version the same kind, while rerolling an Epic item will result in an elite version of the same type.

By selecting the item and pressing the green button, which has a rerolling arrow, a player can reroll it to create an upgradeable item.
